All members of the Vornhagen Lab, including Jay, agree to a code of conduct for during time as a member of the team.

We strive to hold ourselves accountable to the highest standard of interpersonal respect, kindness, and inclusivity.

  1. Bodily safety, bodily autonomy, and emotional safety will be maintained at all times. Abuse of any kind is intolerable.

  2. Our interpersonal interactions will be driven by kindness and respect for ourselves and others.

  3. We aspire to be vulnerable and honest with ourselves and others within the confines of kindness and respect.

  4. We endeavor to maintain our dignity, the dignity of our built environment, and the dignity of the natural environment.

  5. We strive to be unafraid to acknowledge when we need help and to create an interpersonal environment where asking for help is encouraged and rewarded.

  6. We aim to acknowledge when we need rest, recuperation, and healing.

  7. We understand that our responsibility in performing research is to benefit the greater good, rather than advance pursuits of prestige.

  8. We acknowledge that our work impacts others. We strive to ensure that our work is conscientious and positively impacts the greater community.

  9. We aim to be givers, as opposed to takers, within our team, institution, and the greater community.

  10. We commit to the continuous pursuit of the values reflected in the above codes, commit to acknowledging when we fall short of these values, and commit to reaffirmation and reformation.
